Women’s Climate School: New and innovative solutions to mitigate climate change and increase women’s resilience in the Marrakech-Safi region (Morocco)

This project is being implemented in alignment with the strategic vision and action plans of the Tansift Regional Development Center (CDRT), in coordination with its partners, particularly in the areas of supporting and enhancing women’s capacities and climate change adaptation. It reflects the Center’s belief in the essential role that women-led communities play in shaping new models of sustainable development at the regional level.

Furthermore, the project promotes the sharing and networking of best practices in climate adaptation among public institutions and environmental civil society organizations at both local and regional levels. Built on mechanisms for monitoring and support, the project targets women’s cooperatives and associations, with the goal of guiding and empowering them toward a resilient and sustainable climate action model—one that both protects and adds value to local natural resources—through the development of gender-responsive climate adaptation projects.

Through this initiative, and within the framework of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda—particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality and Women and Girls Empowerment), Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 13 (Climate Action), and Goal 15 (Life on Land)—CDRT seeks to implement integrated actions for developing sustainable projects, supporting their implementation and follow-up, and strengthening pleading and advocacy activities in support of local women’s communities in the Marrakech-Safi region.

These efforts are grounded in the recommendations and outcomes of previous training sessions organized by CDRT, with the support of the Global Greengrants Fund (GGF), as part of projects carried out in the Marrakech-Safi region during the years 2022, 2023, and 2024.
